Duality dungeon guide

Duality launched on May 27, 2022, in Season of the Haunted, and takes up to three players into Calus’s mind aboard the Derelict Leviathan. Access needs The Witch Queen Deluxe Edition or the Witch Queen Dungeon Key, and you start it through a quest from Hawthorne in the Tower. It comes in Legend and Master difficulty.

Core mechanics

• You switch between the waking world and the Nightmare realm by shooting the Bells of Conquest. Bellkeepers have to die before a bell can be used.
• Nightmare Collapsing is a countdown of about a minute. Anyone still in the Nightmare when it ends dies.
• Psion Standard Bearers drop Standard Essence, which you deposit on the plate with the matching symbol.

1. Nightmare of Gahlran, Sorrow-Bearer

Kill the Bellkeepers, ring into the Nightmare, take Standard Essence from the Psions in the corner rooms and deposit it on the matching plate. Killing the Visions of Gahlran makes him vulnerable, and then it’s damage time. Mind the collapse timer.

2. The crypt

A puzzle where you rotate statues to open the way forward.

3. The Vault

Three Nightmares in a row: Ka’hok, Emonut and Uroa. Each uses the same Standard-deposit routine as the first boss, so by now it should feel familiar.

4. Nightmare of Caiatl

Deposit four Standards, then shoot the gem on the chain to ring the large Bell of Conquest, and damage starts in the Nightmare. Shooting a bell as Caiatl approaches it stuns her and buys extra damage windows. If she reaches a bell, you’re thrown back to the waking side and lose that window. Waking Resonance boosts your damage against her.

Triumphs and secrets

Twelve of Calus’s Repressed Memories are hidden around the dungeon for the Mind Heist triumph, and there are solo and Master triumphs too. Completing them raises your chance at the exotic.

Heartshadow

Heartshadow, a Void sword, is a random drop from Caiatl only. Its catalyst is a hidden mini-quest: hunt down three Failed Assassin Nightmares, take their Standards to the plates, and the last plate opens a chest. The full loot table is below.
