Vault of Glass is a raid in Destiny 2 on Venus. You can run it with up to 6 players. It comes in 3 versions: Standard, Master, Challenge Mode. Check the loot table below, plus all triumphs and challenges.
Vault of Glass raid guide
Vault of Glass is where Destiny raiding started, and Bungie brought it back to Destiny 2 in May 2021 during Season of the Splicer. You need a fireteam of six, and most of the raid is about splitting up, holding plates and cleansing a debuff before it kills you. It is one of the friendliest raids for first-timers, as long as the Oracle callouts are clean. Below is every encounter in order, with what each role actually does.
1. Opening: raise the Spire
Split into three pairs and send one pair to each of the three sync plates. Your only job is to keep Vex off your plate while the Spire builds. Waves come in steadily and a Cyclops shows up along the way, so make sure every plate has someone who can deal with it. If a plate is lost, progress drops back, but nobody wipes here. Hold all three long enough and the Vault opens.
2. Confluxes
Three Confluxes sit around the arena: first the middle one is active, then the left and right, and finally all three at once. Wyverns walk up to an active Conflux and sacrifice themselves. Let too many through and the team wipes, so each Conflux needs someone watching it at all times.
The twist is the Fanatics. When they die they leave a goo behind, and walking into it gives you Marked for Negation. You have to cleanse it in the pool in the middle of the arena before the Vex ritual goes off, or you die. Expect Overload Minotaurs as well, so bring an Overload answer and something that clears adds quickly.
3. Oracles
The Oracle room is a memory game. Oracles appear around the room, chime, and show the order they spawned in. Then they become shootable and you have to destroy them in exactly that order. Waves grow from three Oracles up to seven. Shoot one out of order and the whole team is punished, which usually ends in a wipe.
The easiest way to stay sane is to give every player a fixed section of the room and only call your own Oracles. Hobgoblins snipe from the edges, so keep an eye on them while you wait for the chimes.
4. The Templar
This is the first fight where the Relic (the Aegis shield) matters. One player picks it up in the middle and uses its Super to break the Templar’s shield. The Relic can also cleanse Negation for the team.
While you do damage, three things keep happening. Oracles spawn and have to be cleared, or the team wipes. A random player gets trapped in a detainment bubble that the others must shoot open. And the Templar tries to teleport: a ring appears on the ground, and someone has to stand in it to stop the jump. Keep those three under control and the Templar goes down quickly.
5. Gorgons’ Labyrinth and the jumping puzzle
No boss here, just a stealth section. Gorgons patrol the maze, and if one of them spots a single player, the whole team dies. Move slowly, stay close to cover and follow someone who knows the route. Shooting the Vex cubes along the way unlocks a chest. After the maze comes a jumping section with platforms that appear and disappear, so take your time.
6. Gatekeepers
The team splits into two groups of three, one for each portal: Mars (the past) and Venus (the future). Each group holds the plates on its side while the other side is busy. The first Gatekeeper drops the Relic, and the Relic is used to strip shields from the enemies that appear through the portals.
Whoever carries the Relic through a portal can’t use the portals again for a while, so the Relic has to be passed between players. When a Gatekeeper respawns, kill it fast or the portals close. The fight ends at a central Conflux that you defend against the last wave of enemies.
7. Atheon, Time’s Conflux
Clear the Harpies first, including the Supplicants that dive at you. Then Atheon teleports three random players either into the past or the future. That team’s job:
- One teleported player takes the Relic and keeps cleansing, or everyone on that side slowly loses their vision.
- The others shoot Oracles in the order called out by the team that stayed behind.
- The home team holds the matching plate to open the portal back.
When the away team comes back, everyone gets Time’s Vengeance, a short buff with extra damage and faster Super energy. Stand behind the Relic’s shield in the middle and burn Atheon. Two rules: don’t leave the Relic on the ground for long, and if you get the detainment warning, step away from the group before the bubble forms. Expect two or three damage phases, depending on your loadout.
Challenges
- Wait for It… (Confluxes): Wyverns must not die before they start their sacrifice.
- The Only Oracle for You (Oracles): no player can destroy the same Oracle twice.
- Out of Its Way (Templar): the Templar must never teleport.
- Strangers in Time (Gatekeepers): the paired enemies that spawn together must also die close together.
- Ensemble’s Refrain (Atheon): each player may destroy only one Oracle per wave.
On Master, completing the challenges is what unlocks the Timelost weapons, and it counts toward the Fatebreaker title.
Vex Mythoclast
The raid exotic, Vex Mythoclast, is a rare random drop from Atheon. Bungie has never published the drop rate, but finishing raid triumphs raises your chance, so it pays to chip away at them while you farm. The full loot table for the raid is below.
