The Summoning Pits is a Grimoire card from the original Destiny (Destiny 1), found under Activities → Strikes. Grimoire cards held most of the game's lore and were read on Bungie.net and in the companion app, not in the game itself.
Card text
"Something dark stirs in the depths of the Hellmouth. We can feel it. A Hive abomination bred for unthinkable evil. We must pierce the veil of their Summoning Pits and destroy this creature...before the Hive unleash it upon us all." - Ikora Rey
Grimoire text written by Bungie, shown as it appears in the Destiny 1 game files.
