Xenophage is an Exotic Machine Gun in Destiny 2 that deals Solar damage from the Power slot and uses heavy ammo. What makes it special is its intrinsic perk, Pyrotoxin Rounds. It comes with a fixed set of perks, including Rangefinder. Where to get it: An Exotic quest or challenge.

How to get Xenophage

Xenophage, the Solar machine gun, comes from a quest rather than a random drop, and it ends inside the Pit of Heresy dungeon on the Moon.

  1. Solve a puzzle with four statues in a room overlooking the Moon’s pyramid.
  2. At Anchor of Light, carry a Light buff and light the braziers before the timer runs out.
  3. Solve rune-shooting puzzles in four Moon Lost Sectors to collect fragments.
  4. Inside Pit of Heresy, take the hidden route after the early encounters to the secret boss Volmâr, the Tempted.
  5. Return to Eris Morn to claim Xenophage.

Lore

Xenophage
There was only darkness… until there was Light. Again. A third time. I knew it. Knew I'd be back one day—only this time, I was something else. Something… not Human. Not by choice, of course. Those damn Hive. They weren't just tryin' to kill me. They were using me to get to my Light. To drain it from my soul. For their sick experiments. But the idiots screwed up. They didn't just drain my Light. They took the whole lot. The entire thing. Soul and all. I'm still me. I'm just not the me I knew. The one with two arms and two legs. I'm something smaller now. But honestly, it's no bother. The fire inside me… it came too. And it rages now more than ever before. The fools have no clue what they've done. No idea the price they'll pay. I'll have my vengeance. In this life, not the next. —Omar Agah
